Abstract

The transformations that the world production and the commercialization of products have undergone since the 1990s has triggered an intense process of globalization, with the establishment of interdependent global networks of productive and commercial relations in different countries of the world. In the production processes, this greater globalization, and the need to reduce production costs have led to the fragmentation of stages at a global level, with the creation of global production chains controlled by the agents that compose it, which now impose conditions for the insertion of companies. in these chains. It is from this framework that this research originates: what has been the way of insertion of companies classified as lowtech’s (textiles, shoes, rubber articles, food, etc.), in the global value chains? To answer this question, this paper aims to analyze the insertion and relationship of such companies, having as research object the textile companies of the Americana region (SP) that are inserted in the global value chains of the textile and clothing worldwide segments. The methodology used in this research was a study of multiple cases, researching 4 textile companies in the region that are inserted in global value chains, and the results obtained show that the researched companies were inserted in global chains with gains in production scale and competitiveness.
